Called to Succeed

For we are His workmanship [His own master work, a work of art], created in Christ Jesus [reborn from above-spiritually transformed, renewed, ready to be used] for good works, which God prepared [for us] beforehand [taking paths which He set], so that we would walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us].

Ephesians 2:10, AMP

This morning, among the call of a variety of country-loving birds, I heard the distinct sound of a woodpecker. A few moments later, the sound of another woodpecker echoed nearby. Listening to these two at work, I marveled at how many times they could continue hitting their heads against a tree. I heard the Lord whisper, “I created them for that.”

I let those words mull around my head for a moment and applied His voice to my life. He created me to do the things He has called me to do. That means that my personality, DNA, strengths, and weaknesses—the characteristics that make me God’s unique creation—aren’t excuses not to do something, but are the very reasons I will succeed.

What do you feel God calling you to do? Is God calling you to teach, nurse, parent, adopt, or be a CEO? Do you feel God leading you to go on mission trips, write a book, create music, or preach the Gospel? Are you called to plant a church, fund a ministry, run a non-profit-organization, or write computer programs? Do you think your dream life is impossible to attain? It’s not! Even if the thing you feel God is calling you to do looks to others like you’re just banging your head against a tree, know that He has not called you to watch you fail. Whatever God is calling you to do, He has already created you to succeed. You have exactly what it takes.
